We receive a huge amount of submission every month. It is very rare for us to be able to listen to everything that we are sent.
If you’d like to send us some music, here are a few requirements, and a handful of tips to help maximise the chance that your submission will get heard:
– Please send all submissions to lachlan(at)artascatharsis.com with the subject line: “Submission: <Band> (Ciy)” – EG: Submission: Hashshashin (Sydney)
– All submissions must contain a Soundcloud stream link. We are less likely to download files. Make it easy for us!
– Final mixes and mastered files are always preferred. Sending rough mixes does not provide a great first impression for your music.
– Clearly label your style/s and influences. This will help us get a quick sense of whether your style suits our label.
– Please have a basic understanding of our catalog before sending music. These days we generally focus on forward thinking prog, post-rock, psych and jazz from Australian artists (though we do work with some international groups). We love polyrhythms and drone. We do not release salsa music.
– We don’t need a long essay on your history, a sense of your career highlights and release plans in a paragraph or two is helpful.
– We are generally booked up 6 to 12 months in advance, so please don’t ask us to release something in 2 weeks time.
– If we do wish to work with you, just be aware that we run promotional campaigns of 8 to 12 weeks, and that we will need assets 6 weeks before the campaign starts (which suggests a minimum 4 months between signing and album release – though our release schedule will likely me a longer wait).
