Sydney -based “psychedelic-progressive discordant metal” quartet Serious Beak have been hard at work shaping their debut album at 301 Studios with the inimitable wizard of sound engineering Tim Carr.

With the guitar tracks recently completed – and drums and percussion already finalised – all that remains is to record bass guitar and any additional instrumental or vocal overdubs.

And, of course, there’s that pesky little issue of album artwork.

After considering a range of options, the band are very pleased to announce that the extremely talented Brooklyn-based artist Caitlin Hackett has been commissioned to create an original landscape piece for the album. Gene and Lachlan have long been fans of Caitlin’s work, and would implore you to check out her incredible online portfolio.

The album layout will be handled by Sydney-based graphic designer Ron Prince, who similarly has a very long history of creating awe-inspiring design work.

Serious Beak‘s debut album is currently planned for a late 2011 release.
