Art As Catharsis is proud to release Comatone & Foley’s ‘Trigger Happy 2’ – the highly anticipated follow-up to Greg Seiler and Alon Ilsar’s 10-year-old dark techno collaboration, ‘Trigger Happy’.
Coming in at four tracks, ‘Trigger Happy 2’ may be seen as a short release – but what’s on offer hits hard and fast. The complexity of each song lies in a similar ballpark to experimental techno heavyweights such as Auchetre and Aphex Twin, dusted with machinated abyssal elements similar to those of Andy Stott.

‘One Five Nine’ is the first taste of hard-hitting electronica that ‘Trigger Happy 2’ has to offer. This first single drags the listener into a world of dilapidated hospital rooms, rattling the ears with pulsing cuts, pounding, unfurling drums and drowning synths that trickle across dense layers and angular tempos. It’s music for dark concrete grottos – the ballrooms of spectres.
“We are both really into screwing with time signatures,” explains Ilsar. “Creating sequences that only computers can play and warping, burying and overlapping grooves so you’re never quite sure where it’s going, moving from cohesion to chaos and back again.”
“We had a lot of fun driving our machines to breaking point,” adds Seiler. “then working our discovered sounds into something that was beautifully uncomfortable.”
Glitchy, diverse and excellently layered, Comatone & Foley have crafted a masterpiece with ‘Trigger Happy 2’. Second by second, metallic hits calcify the music’s silent air, drums cleave through the song structure with relentless breakbeats while phantasmic synths linger in the distant background. It’s engaging and challenging, both brutally present yet hauntingly distant – a soon-to-be favourite amongst electronica-lovers across the globe.
